If you're an author, how many times have you been given the gift of a notebook and pens? A lot more than you might think at first. Maybe you're not an author but your friend is, and you don't want to get the normal 'go to' gift for an author. Don't get me wrong, I absolutely love getting notebooks and writing utensils, especially fancy schmancy ones, but it does get tiring when so many people do it. This is a list of gifts you can give authors that seem original and creature, but they're still pretty simple:
4. Writer's Remedy-they'll be able to get over their case of writer's block real quick with this neat little gift.
7. Page Nib Bookmarks-maybe you want to highlight something that stood out to you in a research book or a normal fiction book, these little handy dandy bookmarks keep your books from becoming highlighter mania.
- Phone case with a notepad-that way, if you're going through your day and you think of an idea and you hate typing it in your phone, you can just write on the notepad on the back of your phone case.

2. A typewriter that plugs into a tablet-You can feel like you're writing on an old fashioned typewriter, but in a modern way, which is what you are doing.
3. Aqua Notes-this way you cannot forget all those great ideas that pop into your head while you're in the shower and magically disappear as soon as you're out.
4. Writer's Remedy-they'll be able to get over their case of writer's block real quick with this neat little gift.
5. Fisher Space Bullet Pen-Any weather, any condition, this little pen can write upside down and underwater. Perfect for an author to have on their bedside table with a small notebook so they can jot down ideas while laying down.
6. Comfy Pants-nothing says get your write on like a pair of comfy pants to lounge around in and help your creative juices flow freely through your veins, from the tip of your toes to your massive brain.
7. Page Nib Bookmarks-maybe you want to highlight something that stood out to you in a research book or a normal fiction book, these little handy dandy bookmarks keep your books from becoming highlighter mania.
8. Story Cubes-You're stuck for ideas and nothing is helping, well, guess it's time to pull out the old story cubes and give them a toss, who knows, maybe they'll give you the inspiration for your next big novel idea!
9. Books-Find a book that is not very well known, and don't you get your writer a writer's guide book, unless they're a beginner and would like some. You want a book that your writer will enjoy but is not very likely to have heard about and refused to read, or has already read.
10. The Storymatic Classic Game-a little box full of thousands of stories for you to put together and create, perfect for giving your author some prompts and ideas.
11. Virtual Keyboard with bluetooth-you probably won't get this for just a friend, even though I'm sure they'd love it, it's just a bit too much to spend. But it would be great to give a spouse (if you're married) for your anniversary or something to make them feel extra special.
12. An autographed book-find out what your author's favorite author and book is, without them figuring out what you're doing, and get it signed! They would probably just love this, because it shows that you know what they like and that you actually care.
13. Crazy Big Dictionary-sometimes your author just needs a book to flip through and find weird words that may, or may not, give them some great, or weird (or both), ideas. Or maybe they just want to learn a new word.
14. Random Reference Book-you can get the greatest ideas from the craziest of places sometimes, and if you give an author a book, good chance is that they'll read it and something in some story in some near or distant future will appear in their mind and they will be able to use it in anyway they desire.
15. Notebook-yes, notebooks come in handy. But, writer's don't want to get a million notebooks from a million different people. If you are their designated notebook gifter then by all means, give them a notebook! Make sure it looks great, has lots of pages, and add something classy to go along with it, like a necklace or super fancy pen or even something that has nothing to do with writing! If you're not their designated notebook giver ask them if they have one, and if they don't, ask if you can be it. Otherwise, NO notebooks, please. It's just to plain and can be a bit sometimes. (Go look at more notebooks here to help show some ideas)
16. Book Inspired Candles-say, yes please! Anything to do with the five senses can help your author, and that includes smells. For more info, click HERE and scroll down to number 4.
17. 3000 Classic Books!-Now that, is devotion! Get your author friend this little USB with 3000 books ready to be plugged in and read!
