Now, first I must tell you of those who I eat lunch with this year, our names are: Bluebird, Lefty, Pumpkin, Paleontologist, Freezer Man, Shy Guy, and Master Mind. Now, I shall tell you of the Legend of the Sheep Dragon, which is the mascot of our lunch table.
High in the mountains there lived a herd of young sheep, their herd having lived in these mountains for many centuries, having survived all creatures that rose against them. They lived in peace and prosperity, their coats of wool thick and soft, causing the envy of many other sheep nearby.
One day, a new predator arose, daring to go against the high clan of sheep. This predator was the great Wolf, his fangs long and cruel, and his eyes flashing menacingly as he approached the mountain sheep. With loud howls he pounced, killing some of the sheep and causing all the rest to abandon their mountain home and retreat down into the foothills while their new enemy claimed their beloved land.
For many years the great Wolf ruled the mountains, slaying any and all sheep that dare set foot on their old property. Sleeping in the cold dark caves and hiding from the Wolf, the sheep grew tired and their woolen coats lost its greatness. Then, a young sheep stepped up and declared to his kin that he would set out to find the great Dragon, and beg her to rid their home of the Wolf so that they might live there once again. Leaving behind his family, this young sheep called Yang traveled the hills and dared enter the canyon known as Dragon's Pass.
Calling out to Dragon, Yang walked through the Pass, fear bubbling through him as he walked willingly into the most feared beast's domain. With a loud beating of wings, a long serpentine Dragon landed before the sheep, and Yang began to shake at the majesty and grandness of the creature.
Who dares enter the domain of myself? The mighty Dragon roared, as Yang trembled beneath and called out to him, a young sheep wishing a favor from the mightiest creature around. Crouching low the Dragon peered at the sheep, her deep purple eyes taking in every aspect of the creature shaking before her, before pulling her head back and declaring, what do you wish, ignorant sheep?
A mighty beast, though not nearly as mighty as yourself, has come to the land of my kin and has roared and fought, throwing us out that we should live in caves while this beast rules our land. Yang declared, daring to stare directly into the large eyes of the Dragon.
What is this beast you speak of, that rids you of your home and land? Dragon huffed, her curiosity peaked by this small creature, standing tall before her greatness.
It is the creature called Wolf, young Yang spoke, his eyes begging the Dragon to help as he stood before her terrible presence. Wolf claims he is the greatest and mightiest creature in all the lands, even far greater than you are.
With a great roar, Dragon reared her head and shot a large blast of flames into the sky, the crimson sparking and swallowing the blue of the heavens. Leaning back down, Dragon stared straight into the face of the sheep, her eyes full of anger and hatred at hearing such things of the Wolf. I will not go after this Wolf you speak of, Dragon spoke softly, her breath ruffling Yang's wool and he lowered his head, saddened by these words. Because it is you who must defeat Wolf and take back your land. Despair filled the sheep's stomach and he turned and started to trudge back toward where his people were.
I will help you accomplish this, Dragon called after him, and he raised his head, staring back at her in earnest. Bring me a stone of water, three leaves from the largest tree, and a hair from the back of Wolf, and I shall give you a gift that will allow you to defeat Wolf.
Nodding his head, Yang accepted and set off on his journey to get her these things that he might stop Wolf and take back his family's land. Traveling over many hills and through many woods, Yang finally came to the edge of the sea and began searching along the coast in the waters, looking for a stone of water. Each stone he examined was grey with harsh edges. After what seemed ages, he found a stone of clear blue that was perfectly round. Hiding the stone in his wool he worked his way back toward the mountains of his home. Along his way he came upon a large tree, the largest he had ever seen, and taking three leaves from it placed them inside his fur with the stone.
Climbing up into the mountain he looked out over the land that had once been his and his family's and he saw the Wolf slumbering nearby. Creeping forward he plucked a hair from the Wolf's back and hid it with the other three items just as the great Wolf awoke and rose to his feet, snarling.
As quick as his feet could carry him, Yang fled from before Wolf and came to Dragon, giving unto her that which she had desired. Instructing the sheep to lay down, Dragon set the three leaves before him, then placed the stone on them, around which she had wrapped the hair of Wolf. Once this was done she took her claw and slit along her arm, letting a four drops of her blood to fall upon it all, sizzling upon contact. Then, wrapping these all tight with the leaves she handed this strange object and bade Yang to eat.
Looking at the strange thing presented to him, the sheep opened his mouth and ate it all in one bite. Instantly tingles started up in his stomach and he closed his eyes as the sensation spread along with a deep burning. This burning was not painful, but rather pleasurable and it did not seem to fade. After a moment he opened his eyes and found he had the body of a dragon such as Dragon's, but his head remained that of a sheep. And he became the magnificent Yang Long, meaning Sheep Dragon, which is what he was now.
Once this had taken place, the new Yang Long flew to Wolf and devoured him, then he brought his family up to their old mountain home and they lived there for the rest of eternity, with the Sheep Dragon to protect them for all ever more.
This is the Legend of the Sheep Dragon. I hope you guys enjoyed it, and if you want anything more that is similar to it, feel free to contact me and I will do my best to do as you wish.
