You're standing in an elevator after just finishing the final draft of your latest book, and suddenly the head of a large publishing company steps into the elevator with you. Right now, you have less than a minute to convince them that your book is good enough to be published. What do you do? You give your elevator pitch that describes your book in basically one sentence.
Don't have an elevator pitch? Well, then get one! It may seem daunting to take you however many chapter book and just summarize it up in just a few short sentences, but trust me, you can do this. You just need to make sure you are able to get the main plot of your story across.

Second, make sure you tell who the main character is and the main conflict. And you also need a quick 500 words to go a little further into the plot. Then have this all memorized. You can do it, you just need to practice. And when the scary moment when that publisher steps into the elevator with you, you'll be able to do your elevator pitch, and you have a much bigger chance of getting published now.
